It’s early March but the bats are in mid-season form for the Central College baseball team which opened the season by rocking Grinnell College 15-4 and Westminster College 19-6 in Fulton Missouri Yesterday.
Dutch shortstop Mike Furlong was 4-for-4 in the nightcap against Westminster with three RBIs and right fielder Jarred Lackey was 4-for-5 with two RBIs. Center fielder Ryan Allison homered in his first day of action for Central and the Dutch also got homeruns in the second game from first baseman Ben Chestnut and catcher Blake Smith. Central pounded out 19 hits and was up 7-5 after five innings before breaking the game open with a six-run sixth inning. D.J. Glasgow recorded the win, yielding four earned runs on seven hits over six innings/ Corey Eisenmann was the winner against Grinnell, also throwing six innings. Central returns to the field today for a 10 a.m. rematch with Grinnell followed by a 4 p.m. contest with Westminster.
