Led by the sizzling bat of second baseman Angela Davis, the Central College softball team slugged their way out of a mild offensive slump on Saturday with a pair of wins over the University of Dubuque. Central claimed 5-1 and 10-4 victories over the Spartans on a beautiful afternoon at the A.N. Kuyper Athletic Complex in Pella. Davis had five hits in six at bats between the two games, including a single, double, triple and a walk in the second game.
In the pitching circle for the Dutch, Kiley Lythberg was used sparingly, but picked up the win in game one, with Katie Tenboer providing relief. Rhianna Fleetwood earned the win in game two. The victories improved Central’s record to 20-7 overall, and 6-2 in Iowa Conference play.
