To say the Pella boys baseball team started off the season with a bang might be an understatement; it was more like an explosion. The Little Dutch welcomed Nevada to town with a swift 12-2 defeat in six-innings, finding themselves in the rare situation of being on the winning side of the ten-run mercy rule.
While the offense was obviously running in high gear, it was the Pella defense that secured the lopsided victory, led by a strong, complete-game performance from pitcher Alex Hardine. The Little Dutch baseball team will try and keep the momentum going tomorrow, when they travel to Albia for another JV/Varsity doubleheader.
