Knoxville came into its season-opening baseball game with Indianola last night wondering what would happen. The Indians left wondering what actually did happen. Knoxville spotted the Indians a one/nothing lead, but after that it was all Knoxville as the Panthers took out the Indians 12-4 in their season-opening game. The big inning for Knoxville was the third when five runs came across highlighted by Lance Daugherty’s three-run homer to break it open. Eric Jones pitched six strong innings and Coach Steve Mott said his curve ball was the key to success. Jones gave up three runs on four hits, one walk and struck out three, Kellon Glover pitched the seventh to finish out the game. Knoxville is 1-0 on the season and will have an off-day today, then hit the road to Centerville for a varsity double header tomorrow.
