The Knoxville Police Department is no longer accepting applications for the officer position that will open up September 1st, but Chief Dan Losada has a large pool of candidates to choose from. 50 applications were returned to the department, representing eight different states and including 12 from Marion County. Of the more than four dozen received Losada immediately denied 13 of them leaving the current pool at 37. The remaining candidates will be invited to testing and interviews in Knoxville on August 26th. Losada says he predicts that approximately half the candidates will show up for testing and 50% of that group will pass and move on to the next step in the hiring process.
