While it was not a thing of beauty, the Knoxville Panthers’ win over Saydel Friday night was just that, a win. Knoxville controlled the game from the start winning comfortably 47-18. Coach Troy Rider said the offense was not as sharp as it needed to be, and the defense let the Eagles get a few big plays. He was happy with the overall play of the defensive line as they caused problems for Saydel’s quarterback all night. Knoxville still needs to win out to clinch a playoff spot. The Panthers could have got some help by their next opponent, Perry who fell Dallas Center-Grimes in overtime Friday after having a 24-3 lead at one point, losing 27-24. Rider says Perry is a lot like Newton. He adds the Bluejays will want to run the ball. A reminder to fans this is only a varsity game on Friday as Perry does not have enough kids for a freshman team, the game will still start at its usual time of 7:30.
