After a productive first quarter that saw the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad lead 7-6, the Panthers could only muster 17 points the rest of the way and fell to Norwalk 37-24. Knoxville was having its way on the boards limiting the Warriors to just one shot, but suddenly shots refused to drop for Knoxville and Norwalk took advantage going on a near 15 minutes scoring binge outscoring the Panthers 19-3 between the second and third quarters. Coach Jim Utiermarkt said most of the shots were good shots, they just did not fall. Alex Abens led the way for Knoxville and all scorers with 14 points. Knoxville is now 4-8 on the season and drops to 1-5 Hawkeye Conference. The boys meanwhile ran into an out-of-control locomotive called Norwalk as the Warriors started the game on a 21-2 run and never looked back winning 56-17. Knoxville Coach Clint Driftmier made it tough for his team. Knoxville falls to 3-8 on the season and 1-5 in conference play. The Panthers take on Newton Monday night in a game that was postponed due to weather this past Tuesday.
