Road construction season is well underway throughout the county. Roger Schletzbaum, the Marion County Engineer, says that they’ve completed a big step on their project on G40 west of Pleasantville. He says that though they were delayed by June’s wet weather a little bit, they have now completed the bridge they were putting in on the road. Schletzbaum says that they are now working on widening the pavement on that section of G40, and they hope to be completed by August.

Another major project on the slate for the summer is the reconfiguration of the intersection of G71 and Story Drive near Bussey. Schletzbaum tells KNIA/KRLS that they plan to start on that in the next couple of weeks.

Schletzbaum also added that as water from Lake Red Rock recedes, they were able to open up a few roads yesterday that were previously underwater. He says they’ll continue to do that at allowed. For a complete list of roads still closed, visit kniakrls.com
