The extreme heat has caused some roads to buckle across the county. Robinson Street between Harlan and Roche and between Highway 14 and Wilson Street was closed yesterday due to buckling. Patchwork will be completed today, and both roads should be open sometime tomorrow.

The County Engineer’s office has reported three road blowups on T-17. One is just south of Pella, one is by the railroad tracks, and one by Highway 92.

In Pella, Public Works Director Denny Buyert says they’ve been very lucky to not have seen any problems with pavement blowups.

Temperatures today are once again expected to reach the upper 90s, with heat indices above 110. The Iowa DOT says to drive with extra caution during the heat wave and to be on the lookout for the broken pavement.
