Donny Schatz captured his fifth Knoxville Nationals Saturday night. Schatz dominated the last half of the 50 lap race to win the $150,000 top prize. Schatz started 13th in the feature, but moved his way up to the lead by the mandatory fuel stop on lap 27. Shane Stewart gave chase, nearly coming back at the end of the race and finishing second. Schatz said in victory lane that if the race had gone one or two more laps, he might have finished as runner-up. Finishing behind Schatz and Stewart were Sammy Swindell, Tim Shaffer, and Daryn Pittman. Mark Dobmeier was the highest Knoxville regular, finishing sixth.
