Knoxville seventh graders are continuing their efforts to learn about and get in touch with their local environment. Yesterday, seventh graders from Sarah Finnegan’s science classes took an ecology field trip, which included visits to the South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency landfill, waste water treatment facility, water quality testing, and Brown’s Recycling. South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency Director Sarah Bixby says that trips like this can help cultivate responsibility in students. She says that she hopes they understand better what happens to their trash now, and why they should recycle.
