Yesterday saw the kick off event for Governor Branstad’s Healthiest State Initiative. People all over Iowa took part in Start Somewhere Walks, including in Pella. Two walks took place, one ending at West Market Park, the other at Caldwell Park. Several hundred people participated. Pella Schools got involved as well, with students taking the one-kilometer walk around the east side of town, near Jefferson Intermediate.

In Knoxville, dozens more participated in the Start Somewhere walk at the Knoxville Recreation Center. Included in that group were students from Northstar Elementary. Hy-Vee and Fareway helped put on the walk in Knoxville. You can listen to KNIA/KRLS’s Dr. Bob Leonard discuss the walk with some Northstar Elementary student’s in Mrs. Helle’s class below.
