A Knoxville High School graduate has been chosen to lead missions that will be carried out on the International Space Station. Tomas Gonzalez-Torres, a 1992 graduate from Knoxville High School, has been promoted to the position of flight director by NASA. A flight director leads and orchestrates operations at the International Space Station, and also helps develop plans for future exploration missions. After graduating from Knoxville, Gonzalez-Torres received his degree in aerospace engineering from Iowa State University in 1998. He also was a part of the Hubble Telescope rescue in 2009.
