It’s world polio day. Rotary International has been very involved in eradicating polio, which is still prevalent in four countries around the world. Knoxville Rotary president Christine Buttell says that the international Rotary Club is just one percent away from reaching a fundraising goal, which will be matched by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Butell says the goal is to raise awareness that it is a preventable disease. She says that if you are a polio survivor, or know someone who is, to contact Rotary and share your story.
