If you saw flames last night in the area around the VA water tower, there was no need to be concerned. Knoxville Fire Chief Mike Roberts says a controlled burn of fumes from LP gas tanks was occurring. It is unusual for controlled burns to happen at night, but Roberts says that the fumes had to be burned off before the tanks could be transported, which is scheduled to occur sometime today.
