The gun will sound for the 21st Annual Dettmann Turkey Trot at 9am this morning. The 5k race begins at Knoxville Recreation Center, with registration beginning at 8am. Runners will predict before the race how fast they will run the race, and the individual that finishes closest to their predicted time wins a 12-14 pound turkey. Knoxville Recreation Center Wellness Supervisor Trish Worrall (whirl) says that the race has become a tradition for many families who spend Thanksgiving in Knoxville. The race is open to all ages, and the registration fee is $3 per person.
