The Knoxville City Council passed a new parking ordinance last Monday. City Manager Harold Stewart says that the new rule allows property owners to post private parking signs on any parking they may have in city right-a-way. An example of this would be a paved spot where grass would normally be located between the sidewalk and the curb. The city will not enforce this, but the property owner may call a towing service to have any vehicle parked in that area towed. Stewart says that this will help out property owners who take care of those parking spots by shoveling and cleaning it.
