A Knoxville man has been charged with felony interference with official acts after he injured an officer while resisting arrest this week. 31-year-old Bernie Wells allegedly broke into a home on West Jefferson in Knoxville while intoxicated late Monday night. Wells struggled with police as they attempted to put him into a squad car, injuring one officer’s shoulder. He was also charged with three misdemeanors having to do with resisting arrest and breaking into the home. Wells faces up to more than six years in prison if convicted. He’ll next appear in court on August 24th.
