Monday is Labor Day, which is a federal holiday that honors American workers for their efforts and contributions to the country. The holiday was first recognized in 1887 in Oregon before being named a national holiday in 1894 by President Grover Cleveland. All city, county, state, and federal government offices are closed today, as are banks. The indoor pool at the Pella Aquatic Center will be closed as well. The Knoxville Recreation Center will be open from 1-5 on Monday afternoon.
