Jefferson Place in Pella is breaking the mold of the tradition skilled care facility with a social living model. It is trying to abandon the impersonal nature of most facilities through a resident centered approach. Nancy Hamilton, Executive Director of Hearthstone, says that not only have they received positive feedback from patients and their families, but it has also reduced their caregiver turnover, which is a problem in the skilled care field.
