The Knoxville Recreation Center will send out a request for proposal as they consider expanding the facility. City Manager Harold Stewart says that the idea was discussed after the Rec Center came in under budget in recent projects and had extra funds from general obligation bonds. The Rec Center is looking for an outside party that can evaluate their facility, including its strengths and weaknesses, and develop a strategy to ensure they can continue to meet the community’s needs over the next few decades.

Stewart says that the request for proposal allows the city to evaluate different companies’ plans and compare their experience before selecting one to team with on this evaluation.
