The Knoxville School Board approved an application to join the South Central Conference during their regular meeting last Monday. The board passed it with a 4-0 vote – board member Stephanie Vickroy was absent. The application sets in motion a plan to have Knoxville join the South Central Conference beginning in the fall of 2014. It still must be approved by members of the South Central Conference.

Future enrollment figures was often cited as among the biggest reasons for the move. Knoxville’s declining enrollment trend is expected to continue, while schools like Norwalk, Pella, and Oskaloosa are expected to remain stable or grow.
