Students and staff at Pleasantville High School are getting ready for a very busy Friday. Students are taking part in the Meals from the Heartland program, where they pack non-perishable meals to be shipped to those in need across the state, nation, and world. Senior Katelyn Sanders is one of the students in Dennis Oliver’s class that is helping organize the event. She tells KNIA/KRLS between donations and a grant, they have now raised $10,000. That will allow them to package around 37,000 meals.
Oliver expects that around 400 students, staff, and community members helping package meals tomorrow morning at the high school gymnasium. Anyone who wants to help just needs to donate two dollars at the door Friday morning. For more information, contact Dennis Oliver at 515-848-0541.
