Several sprint car drivers will be out at Young’s Park Friday for a game of Kickball. The Tony Stewart Kick-It Cup is a four-team tournament that helps raise money for Kick-It for Cancer, a charity that’s part of the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation. Gordon, who was in Knoxville Wednesday, says that the sprint car community has shown tremendous support for these charity events this week. He says that sprint car fans have big hearts and love to do something for a good cause. Gordon says he’s appreciative of the fans this week and says it’s rejuvenated his love for dirt-track racing. The Kick-It Cup features drivers such as Shane Stewart, Kraig Kinser, Johnny Herrera, and Brian Brown. It also features 15-year-old cancer survivor Johnny Gibbs. The event takes place from 11am-to-1pm Friday.
