It’s Fire Prevention Week, and Pella Windows and Doors has posted a 10 step fire safety plan on the popular website Pinterest. Pella Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkum echoed the first step, which is to have a plan. Van Gorkum suggests having an unexpected fire drill to test your family, and see how they will react in an emergency. The other tips include installing fire alarms, identifying exits, and making sure everyone in your family knows to dial 911. Both Knoxville and Pella Fire Departments made visits to elementary schools this week to teach fire safety to students.
