The City of Pella Public Works Department recently had an unexpected addition to their workload. The new project is fixing the overhead archway in the alley behind the Franklin street businesses, between Main and Broadway. Denny Byart with Pella Public Works says that the archway suffered structural damage by a semi that ran into it. Byart tells KNIA/KRLS that the driver then left the scene, but an eyewitness was able to identify the vehicle who was then stopped before leaving town. Byart concludes by saying that the alley way will be closed until all repairs are complete.
