The National Weather Service reports light to moderate snow is forecast to persist throughout the day today and begin to taper off this evening. Generally a widespread 2 to 4 inches of light fluffy snow can be expected over central to northern Iowa by this evening. Some isolated higher amounts are possible in north-central Iowa. Southeast winds of 10 to 15 mph may cause some minor blowing of snow and reduce visibility under a mile at times. The snowfall looks to taper off from west to northeast this evening. Brisk west to northwest winds look to cause below wind chill values late tonight, with the coldest wind chill readings to near 25 below in far northern Iowa by Monday morning. Another cold night is forecast Monday night. A weak disturbance will bring the chance for very light accumulating snow late Tuesday night into Wednesday over northern Iowa. Dry and cold conditions will prevail Wednesday through Friday.
