The extreme cold we are seeing this winter is forecast to last awhile, says Greg Tatro, meteorologist with WeatherEye. He says the northern parts Canada never did really warm up this past summer, and arctic air is pushing southward, affecting us here in Marion County with colder than normal temperatures very likely for us this winter. He says temps should continue to recover Tuesday and we’ll be back in the 20s by Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning for Marion county, effective until noon on Tuesday. Bitterly cold air temperatures will settle in and wind chills are forecast to be between 40 and 50 below zero by Monday morning.
