A project developed by Pella Christian High School Students will reach heights of more than 100,000 feet this week. Pella Exploring Near Space is launching a high altitude balloon on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from Pella Christian High School. PENS is a program offered to school children in the Pella Community and Pella Christian districts, and is sponsored by the Pella Amateur Radio Club. The goal of the program is to expose children to STEM fields. The students develop, engineer, and build experiments to fly into near space, using a helium or hydrogen filled weather balloon and then track and retrieve their experiment using amateur radio APRS technology.
