Melcher-Dallas honors a coal mining heritage, with the annual Coal Miners Day celebration, and this year it will be June 21. Coal Miners Committee President Miki Alexander tells KNIA KRLS News that this is a time of reunion as well, and alumni often come back to town for the celebration, which kicks off Friday evening, with a fireworks display. She says this year, the Lucas Bebee band will be at The Other Side bar, starting at 9. There will be pony rides, a carnival, mutton bustin’, and a 5K race, breakfast and a meal served at, and to benefit, the Melcher-Dallas Fire Department.
