Third Street in Knoxville could be reopened by the end of the week.

That’s the word from the Streetscape Committee during their meeting Tuesday.

Painting street lines and parking spots took place along the section of road Tuesday. Knoxville City Manager Harold Stewart says the intersection of Third and Main Streets will open as soon as the brickwork in that area is completed. When all the brickwork along Third Street is done, the whole street will be opened.

Once work on Third Street is completed, the Downtown Streetscape project will be shut down until next year.
