Members of a local athletic team gathered together for a cause off of the court this weekend.
The Central College Men’s Basketball team assisted Habitat for Humanity of Marion County with their home build at 141 Brook Circle in Pella. Basketball Captain Kyle Newendorp is a Pella native, and says it feels good to help give back to a community that helped him as he grew up.
The team did everything from hanging up sheet rock, putting up siding, and building retaining walls.Habitat for Humanity Project Manager Jordan Downing says it’s a great experience for him to see people volunteer at the sites and says he sees them get a sense of accomplishment after they come out to help.
For those that would like to get involved locally, Habitat for Humanity of Marion County has volunteer build days every Saturday in Pella and Knoxville.
