Amy-Sinclair-2
With the pomp and circumstance from the opening week of the Iowa Legislative session now behind, District 14 State Senator Amy Sinclair says she’s ready for the busy week ahead.

Sinclair says subcommittee assignments are being handed out and the Iowa Senate will look to take on the issue of supplemental aid for schools. The Iowa School Board Association is asking for a supplemental state aid of six percent, but recommendations outlined by Governor Terry Branstad in his Condition of the State Address has led educators to believe the number will be much lower.
Sinclair believes there will be an increase, but doesn’t think that six percent is feasible with the legislature already dealing with a budget deficit.
Iowa is currently 35th in the nation in educational funding per student.
