It took overtime to decide a game involving the Pella Christian boys’ soccer team, but the Eagles wound up on the losing end this time, falling to Albia last night, 2 – 1. The two schools played a scoreless first half, and each team found the back of the net in the second half. The Eagles’ goal was scored by Jonathan Beltman, assisted by Jake DeRuiter. The loss is the first of the season for Pella Christian, who sits at 2 – 1. North Polk blanked the Eagles’ girls, 5 – 0, in the Tulip City. Coach Mike Buchheit tells KNIA/KRLS Sports his team played a good first half, but lost focus down the stretch. PC’s girls play in the Southeast Polk tournament today, while the boys are off until Monday to face Des Moines Christian on the road.
