The final day of the 80th annual Tulip Festival saw tens of thousands of people in the Pella city limits on Saturday.
Governor Terry Branstad was among those in attendance, and says Pella’s strong tourism helps the state economy. Another dignitary in attendance throughout the weekend was from Pella’s past. Dominie Scholte–as portrayed by Tom Vander Well of the Union Street Players, was also featured throughout the weekend. He says it was fun to take the character from the stage to the streets for the first time in the festival’s history. KNIA/KRLS was once again a part of the annual celebration in Pella, as we broadcasted live throughout the weekend from the Big Red Radio.
