Knoxville work crews continue repairs on a hole 18-feet deep under Larson Street.
Assistant City Manager Aaron Adams says the storm sewer in that area failed and rushing water created a cavity under one lane of the street, forcing the road closure.
Since the city doesn’t own equipment to handle a repair this deep, Knoxville Streets Supervisor Dennis Webb says they’ve hired Cushman Excavating to use their track hoe to assist.
Webb says repairs are going smoothly and, weather permitting, access could be allowed to that portion of Larson Street by Monday.
