The US Army Corps of Engineers is encouraging the public stay off the ice at Lake Red Rock.

Ice has begun to form along the shoreline and in the bays around the lake.

Park Ranger Tracy Spry says conditions are unstable due to dropping water levels, which can cause ice conditions to change quickly and thickness to vary greatly within very short distances.

Receding water levels may also cause ice to slope downwards along the shoreline or to break away, making it difficult to get back to shore once on the ice.
