Being the largest school in attendance has its perks, and it definitely worked to Pella High’s advantage as the girls’ track and field team finished with 218 points to overwhelming win the Lynnville-Sully meet last night. Pella’s girls won a whopping 16 events in total. The host Hawks were the closest to the Lady Dutch in points with 99 points. Pella Christian’s girls were fifth with 50; Lizzy Van Manen won the discus with a throw of 113’7”, and four other events came in second place, including the Eagles’ 4 x 100, 200, and sprint medley relay teams. Mary Kate Bandstra was also a silver medalist in the 200 meter dash. PC’s boys were also fifth with 39 points. Grant Dunsbergen won both of the long distance races with gold medal showings in the 1600 and 3200 meters. Full results for Pella and PC are below.
