Demolition has been moving at a “lightning” pace at the old Lincoln Elementary site in Pella.

Principal Rich Schulte tells KNIA/KRLS News removal of the facility should be complete in early May, weather permitting.

He says that will allow work to begin on the final round of site improvements.

“The southern portion of the building will all be grass, so that’ll be part of our grass playground,” Schulte explains. “Just north of the crosswalk will be the bus drive and teacher parking, and then just west of the preschool rooms will be the preschool playground.”

All work on the new Lincoln Elementary is expected to be complete by the beginning of the 2016-17 school year.
