A bill amending language giving the Knoxville Raceway a tax rebate on their revised grandstand expansion project failed in the Iowa Senate yesterday, but was reintroduced by Amy Sinclair yesterday morning.
The original language provided for 25% of the project cost up to two million dollars to be rebated. The updated language would make the whole project rebate-able up to two million dollars, eliminating the 25 percent figure. Sinclair says she voted against the bill because the rules of procedure dictate she would have to be part of the prevailing majority in order to reintroduce the bill. Sinclair says the bill failed because she did not have information on its economic impact to share with her caucus and she will try again as soon as there is time in the session.
