The only Pella Christian team in action this weekend, the Eagles’ boys’ golf team heads a-ways northwest to Perry for an invitational tournament this morning. The Eagles have golfed twice already this week; taking second place in a triangular with Oskaloosa and D-C-G and only losing to the Indians by one stroke, and they battled tough with an extremely talented Knoxville team on Thursday. The team will be a bit deeper for today’s tournament, explains Coach Jim Dingeman.
“Saturday’s going to be kind of special for our team, we get to bring eight guys, which is different than normal,” Dingeman says. “Usually, an invitational is just six, and Perry does it a little differently. They let you bring eight guys. I get to see a little bit more from my seventh and eighth men. It’s also going to be the next day right after Junior-Senior Banquet.”
Dingeman says not only will today’s tournament test the depth of his team, but it will also test the mental strength of the guys as many of them were in attendance at yesterday’s festivities. Norwalk, ADM, Gilbert, and the Bluejays are all in attendance for today’s 18-hole tournament, which is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
