Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian tells KNIA/KRLS News the Marion County Roads Department will be experimenting with a 10 hour 4-day work week this summer.

Christian calls the plan a way to make crews more efficient. The desire is for workers to spend less time in transit and more time on site. The bridge and pavement crew will try the new schedule from May 2 to September 2. Christian emphasized that the plan could bring a cost savings to the County similar to hiring a half-time employee. Other crews may be switched to the schedule seasonally if the experiment is a success.
