The Marion County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing regarding the closure and removal of the bridge over English Creek on Story Drive east of Melcher-Dallas.
County Engineer Tyler Christian says the the removal would be done using federal funds and that 90th Place, a road connecting G76 to Story Drive, long abandoned, will be resurrected to allow access to the area. Several local farmers attended the meeting to protest the change. They claim that the closure of the 135 foot long bridge would make it difficult to conduct farm operations and present a safety issue as tractors and other heavy equipment would be forced to travel G76 and T14. Supervisor Mark Raymie assured the concerned parties they would be included in the dialogue as the county moves forward.
