The Knoxville Farmer’s Market will stay on the Knoxville Square for the summer.

At Monday night’s meeting the City Council voted to approve the Farmer’s Market’s application by a vote of three to two. Councilman Lane, Councilwoman Allspach-Kline and Councilman Kingery were for it, Councilmen Stephens and Kelley opposed it. Several community members spoke at the standing-room-only meeting on behalf of the market and a petition was presented with signatures from business owners on the square and other concerned citizens. After the passage, members of council suggested a multi-party discussion to try and reach an arrangement more palatable to everyone before the 2017 Farmer’s Market.
