A fiber optic cable was cut at the West Elementary construction site this afternoon.
Phone lines and internet to the south all the way to S & S Quarries are affected, including landlines at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics. CEO Kevin Kincaid says the hospital has been notified about the fiber optic communication line being cut and communication back-up procedures are in place and functioning. KHC is working to return normal communications as quickly as possible. Andy Kraber with Windstream Communications estimates service will be restored by 4:00 p.m. this afternoon. KNIA/KRLS News will update with more information as soon as it becomes official.
