Carla Boat Coordinator of the Care for Yourself program at Marion County Public Health encourages women over the age of 40 and those that believe they are at risk for breast and cervical cancer to think about preventative measures.

The Care for Yourself program assists women with an income less than 250% of the poverty level, to get regular screening for these cancers. Boat says that women with questions about breast and cervical cancer should contact her at Public Health. Care for Yourself offers both financial assistance and guidance in finding a provider. Boat is passionate about making self-care a priority for women in her service area, so they can catch the warning signs of cancer early. Boat’s Care for Yourself service area has just expanded to include Lucas County. For more on the Care for Yourself program listen to Today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
