The bats were working, but unfortunately the defense showed some lapses during Pella High baseball’s stay at the Williamsburg tournament on Saturday. The Little Dutch dominated their first contest with the host Raiders, 7 – 2; Coach Jesse Jablonski tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that a balanced production throughout the line-up helped lead to back-to-back three-run innings in the middle of the game. Jaden Rolffs picked up his first career varsity win on the mound. Five errors in game two led to seven unearned runs against the Dutch as they dropped to Mount Pleasant in the second game, 9 – 8. Pella had a 4 – 0 lead in the first and an 8 – 4 lead in the sixth, but could not hold on. Tyler Hillman had three hits in game two, Ben Tysseling had two, and Soren Stelter drove in three runs. Pella’s record is now 16 – 5, and they’ll play at Grinnell Monday night for a road conference game.
