The Knoxville High School Band is raising money to purchase new band uniforms.
The uniforms the school currently has on hand are about 15 years old and have fallen into disrepair. New Band Director Ben McCartney says the uniforms will cost about $56,000 dollars to replace. The effort has already raised approximately $17,000. McCartney says being in band lets students be a part of a supportive community within the school. He adds looking good in marching band goes hand in hand with sounding good and that scores at competitions are affected by appearance.
