Kurtis Brondyke finished strong at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Sunday. Entering the day 13th, Brondyke willed his way to 11th place overall in Eugene, Oregon in the men’s decathlon. The Dutch alum came in first in his heat in the 110 high hurdles, placed second in the discus and in the javelin, and wound up with 7,614 points to take 11th overall. Unfortunately, the top three scores advanced to the Rio Olympics in August; defending gold medalist, Ashton Easton, ended up on top with 8,750 points, Jeremy Taiwo was second with 8,425; and Zach Ziemek grabbed the last spot with 8,413.
