The Pella City Council held and approved the first reading of an ordinance adding design standards to new homes in the city’s gateway corridors at their meeting yesterday.
Planning and Zoning Staff, an ad hoc committee, and the council have been reviewing possible standards since December. New standards for new homes will be put in place along Washington and Main Streets, assuming the ordinance passes the 2nd and 3rd readings. The first reading of changes to residential zoning uses was also approved, as was a resolution to set a public hearing date to purchase equipment for water infrastructure upgrades by Vermeer Corporation.
